Clear ways to ask for a call
Give the person a time and a little context when you ask for a call. Keep it short enough to answer easily.
For an ordinary chat
“I’d love a catch-up. After dinner would suit me.”
“Nothing urgent. Call when you have a quiet half hour.”
Across time zones
“Can we talk at 7 pm my time on Saturday? I’m in Lisbon this week.” Include the city and the date so daylight saving and local dates do not create confusion.
When timing matters
Contact the person directly when you need a prompt reply. A check-in note does not guarantee they will open it before your suggested time.
