Everyday routines
Check in across time zones
Set the reminder around the sender’s day. Read each received check-in in the sender’s local time rather than assuming your own date applies.
A morning can arrive in the afternoon
A person in Lisbon and a person in Boston can see the same update at different local times. Near midnight, their local dates can differ too.
Agree on the time convention
- Use the sender’s local time for the daily routine.
- Include a time zone when suggesting a call.
- Review the agreement when travel changes the routine.
- Check the displayed date before reading an older record as new.
Plan a call separately
Use the call-time tool to compare two cities for a particular date. Daylight saving changes mean a fixed offset is not always the same all year.
